: Is it an Imagewriter II with the AppleTalk option card in it? If not,
: forget it, since even another Mac won't be able to print over the net to
: it. (The StyleWriter has software to do this, however.) I have no idea,

: IIgs, to let you talk to an optioned IWII.
Since the original poster says it prints from native programs, I'm guessing
that there is a network card in the printer. One thing to point out is that
you have to boot GS/OS to have all the Appletalk software installed. If you're
booting ProDOS 8 directly, no dice.
You're out of luck with Print Shop GS too, it tries to be so freaking clever
and gets unhappy if you don't have slot 1 set to printer port. It won't print
to a network printer.
It will work with any software that doesn't try to be clever like PS GS. I
have an IW II and a laserwriter and a IIgs and //e with workstation card on
a network. I can print to the laser or the IW with Appleworks on the //e and
IIgs and with native apps too. I only have one printer installed in Appleworks
even, since I only have to select the printer with the net printer control
panel on the IIgs or chooser II on the //e.
So all you need to do is boot GS/OS and choose the IW with the net printer
control panel then run Appleworks or other 8 bit apps and they will print.
: The IWII AppleTalk option card is still available as far as I know, from
: at least one of the usual Mac mail-order places. A friend of mine got one
: last year, and it cost a little more than a hundred bucks.
If only I had bought all I could get when my dealer was selling them for $10
a pop...
