You can run the computer to modem link at ANY speed the comm software
will support and the modem will ship as much of it as he can by
compressing it and shipping it to the other modem at whatever speed
they agreed upon. For that matter, to take as much advantage of the
compression as you can, you should run the computer to modem link as
fast as you can. Heavens, ProTERM will do as much as 38400. You'll
have to have a hardware-handshaking and tell ProTERM to use a modem type
that supports RTS/CTS (I told it Hayes Smartmodem 9600 for my Zoom V.32)
so the modem can stop him when its buffer gets full.
