After reading the first post in this series I downloaded the first disk file
and examined it. There is a "Macintosh" header of some sort attached to the
file. It doesn't appear to be a normal MacBinary or MacBinary II header
since neither the GS MacBinary stripping utilities nor my Powerbook MacBinary
utilities recognize it. Unlike the expected MacBinary header, which is $80
bytes long, this header is $1FF bytes long. JSchober@aol.com posted an
Apple II (8-bit) utility a while back called MacBinaryStrip that seems to
offer a manual strip of x bytes. However, the copy I have seems not to work.
The manual option pops up after the program says "hit return to exit" and
then entering any manual length, followed by return just exits the program.
Does anyone out there know JSchober or know of any updates to this program?
THe most recent MacBin GS program gags on this header as well so it doesn't
help. To the author of that utility would be a useful addition to have a
manual stripping option where the length to strip could be set.
