Re: Handshake cable
Hi Matt!
I just finished working on a cable for Appleton II that might
fit the bill. Basically, it's the exact hardware handshaking cable
Morgan Davis recomends for use with ProLine. The pins are connected
as...
Mini DIN-8 <--> DB-25
3 <--> 2
5 <--> 3
1 <--> 4 and 20
2 <--> 5
8 and 4 <--> 7
7 <--> 8
On the cable that came with my USR Sportster the 7<-->8 (GPi-DCD) wasn't
connected, but I don't think that would be a problem except for a BBS
host. On the hardware handshaking cable I bought from Alltech the
1 <--> 4 line was connected, but 4 wasn't jumpered to 20 on the DB-25.
Sooo, I installed the jumper myself and it worked fine. The problem I
was solving was my BBS not responding correctly to a dropped carrier,
which is what the GPi<--> DCD line does for me.
Anywho, use an ohm-meter to check out how your cable is wired.
Have fun!
