We had 'dimmer' switches in a couple of rooms in our house. If the light with
the dimmer switches were on, they interfered with the input/output on the
cassette tape. A common yell heard up the stairs in our house when we wanted
to do input/output on our Apple II was "TURN OFF ALL THE DIMMER SWITCHES!"
We eventually solved the problem by removing the dimmer switches. But, we
were in hog-heaven when we purchased our first Disk ][ drive - Christmas of
1979.
