Font problem

I have a problem with my fonts on my hd ok here is the problem:
When I use a word processer on my gs (rom 3) and I go to the font's menu
All I see is garbeld data and every once in a while a see a name of a font 
If I can find the name of the font I want to use I can use the font but my
font menu is all wacked out can someone please help me!!!!

Here are the spect's of my GS: Rom 3 ,internal 40 meg zipdrive hd, a sound
miester, about 2 megs ram, Applied engineering system saver GS, two 3.5
drives, one 5.25 drive, a gravis joy stick, imagewriter 2, uhhh ,standerd
keyboard and mouse, A maxxon 2400 baud modem,and a IIgs screen, 


If anyone can help me please do...
