trackstar help needed

I'm trying to install that trackstar 128k card (non-VGA version) on a
IBM XT clone.  I've got problems with the video output.  The computer
has a mono TTL monitor that works fine off the XT. When the video is
run through the Trackstar board (correctly installed), there's no video
on bootup, memory check, or at the DOS level.

I've run "star" blindly.  This eventually produces a single line of
text, about 2/3rd of the way up the screen.  This text appears to be in
the Apple ][ character set, and looks like an entire screenful of text
overwritten on a single horizontal line.

I've got a monochrome composite (apple ][) monitor, but no Trackstar
cable for that monitor.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or help on use of the Trackstar card.
Assuming I get it working, I'd like to know if there's any way to store
and run the apple ][ software off the IBM hard drive.
