I've recently adjusted the internal brightness and R-G-B pots
(tint) controls inside my AppleColor RGB monitor, and although the colors
now look correct, I'm not certain I got the color intensity correct. Now
just a few moments ago, I was skimming through some old A+ magazines and
noticed the photographs of screens don't quite match mine. The colors
appear much darker, but I can't be certain if this is an affect of the
photograph or if my screen actually needs more tweaking. Perhaps GS users
out there can help me out here...
In the April 1989 issue of A+, page 25, there's an ad for the
Apple II version of Quicken. It shows medium blue border, dark blue
background and white text (80 columns IIe ASCII). I often keep my screen
set to dark-blue but it does _not_ look nearly as dark as the blue in the
photograph (my contrast knob set at the highest setting, brightness knob
at center position, though even playing with them doesn't help match things
up). Another example is the December 1988 issue of A+, page 61, where the
GS/OS Finder desktop is shown. Again, the dark-blue border is darker and
my desktop blue color is much lighter. Anyone who has these issues, could
you compare them with your screen and let me know if they match up in terms
of color intensity? (how dark colors are, not tint, as those do match).
..If I do need to bring the color intensity down, which internal controls
will do this? I doubt the master brightness or contrast would help, would
I have to start playing around with color tint again? (last time I spent
nearly four hours getting colors just right, so I rather not go through
this again :/). Would bringing down the Red/Blue in equal amounts darken
colors without changing tint?
