ZRAM ULTRA 1: RAM BOARD FOR IIC
INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
======================
I have been away from my e-mail for the past two weeks, so if you
are awaiting a response from me, send a reminder by Thursday.
Recently I acquired a ZRAM ULTRA I internal RAM board for a IIc.
It has space for 16 chips, and also for the socketed MMU and CPU.
I have two other IIc computers with ZRAM variations: (a) original
ZRAM 512K and CP/M processor, and (b) ZRAM ULTRA III, with 1024K, clock,
and CP/M. The only manual I have is Z-RAM II.
QUESTIONS:
(a) chips: I assume that the ZRAM Ultra I uses standard 256 RAMS (8 chips
makes 256K). Is there any advantage to be gained by using faster RAMs
such as 100 ns chips rather than slower chips such as 150 ns?
(b) Installation direction: Does the "notch" on the RAM chips face up or
down? (The seller removed all the chips when shipping.)
(c) The manual for Z-RAM II states that a "jumper" wire must be fitted
from the board to an IC pin. ZRAM ULTRA I does not have a jumper wire;
is it supposed to have it?
(d) What software can create a ProDOS RAM-DISK on ZRAM ULTRA 1?
(e) There are four spacer-holes: A (left), B (left), E (center), F (right).
There is an upper-spacer in B and a lower-spacer in F. Are the spacers for
A and for E supposed to go up vs. down? Please specify.
Thanks. Stephen Buggie sebugg@presby.edu
