Can we choose "None of the above"? :) I rather dislike
Apple II 5.25 drives, they're slow, noisy, single sided and offer
only limited storage (140k). Mind you, I'm not exactly fond of any
5.25 media storage, be it on any system. ;-)
However, if you want an opinion, I'd say the Apple 5.25
was the nicest. I own couple of each type of drive listed above,
and perfer the platinum Apple 5.25 over the rest. It was the
most compact, most attractive and offered a more standardized
interface and daisy-chain port. There was also the //c external
5.25 drive, although since I've never seen one in person, I can't
comment on it. An even nicer drive was the Asuka Newtech slimline
drives I used over a decade ago. Exteremly quiet drives, none of
the grinding and clatter offical Apple drives made. They were only
made in Japan though, so I had difficulty getting a replacement chip
that kept dying. I once had to locate an Apple II user in Japan (via
FidoNet) just to get a replacement. :)
