Mac Internal -> GS External

I'm trying to set up a late model 160 Mb Mac internal drive as an
external SCSI drive for a GS. I've done this sucessfully before with
drives out of an SE/30, but this one is giving me problems.  The drive
has an Apple Computer Inc label, though IBM is shown as the oem. It's
described as an Internal HDD, Firmware(c) 1993, 160 MB, 3.5", SCSI.
Model IBM-H3171-S2, P/N 66G4319. The problem I'm having is the GS
doesn't recognize it's there. I hooked the remounted drive (in a case
and ps) on an LC-III and it recognizes is and we can set the SCSI ID
number from 0-7. For the GS I set the ID to 6. I'm using an Apple
High Speed SCSI card in the GS and I've tested it with my other
SCSI drive so the card & cable are working fine. To look at the drive
I'm booting GSGS v6.0.1 from a floppy with the SCSI and HFS stuff
installed. I'm starting to suspect the -S2 in the model number marks
this as a SCSI-2 drive even though the label simply says SCSI. It's
not obvious how the drive is terminated, though I've tried both with
and without a terminator on the case I've mounted it in.
