As of yesterday (Monday, 13 Feb 1995), Tom Weishaar has
announced that
A2-Central, TimeOut-Central, Script-Central, etc. will no longer
be
published. In other words, what I told you before in confidence
is now
public knowledge. :-)
Tom assures me that the cheques for authors will soon be sent.
I'd like to
add my own thanks... not just for being patient, but for working
with me on
A2-Central over the past year. I'm sad to see it go.
Here's what Tom had to say about ICON's demise:

We are on the bank of the river now, drying off, exhausted,
but
alive. After months of swimming upstream, this month we quit.
When I set up ICON a year ago, I felt it would guarantee
Resource
Central's publications a long future. ICON had not only the
monthly income
from renewals of our longstanding Apple II publications, it also
had new
Macintosh Andrew,
Here's another attempt to get a message through. Obviously I don't
know everything there is to know about all this either. It may
explain why I've not gotten responses to some of my messages from
others when I thought I should.
I had thought for a local and private message that it didn't matter
what newsgroup was set, but it may be that the message is left in the
group which is selected at the time of the sending, and if you don't
happen to download that group, or have it selected, you will never
see the message, private or otherwise. The only thing that puzzles
me is that I would think any message addressed to you should get to
you regardless of where in the scrolls it is posted. I will try to
post this in several different places, but I will post it in the same
way, privately to you.
