Simple. Most apps which use extended memory will grab the RAMworks memory and
leave the slinky memory for RAM disk use. This works with Proterm, Appleworks,
and Publish It!. If you have one card or the other your RAM disk memory gets
eaten. Unless you fiddle with the memory partitioning feature some of them
have, but you have little memory for either use.
I have a RAMworks II with RGB interface in my //e, along with a 1 mb RAMfactor.
I can boot from the RAM disk, I don't have to run a program to set up the
memory as a RAM disk, and apps don't eat the memory since they use the
RAMworks. It's slick.
I like the slinky cards so much I put one in my ROM 3 IIgs in slot 5 when I
got my superdrive card recently, which lives in slot 6.
