Thanks, Nick. In reading the manual, I learned that we're no better
off than what we learned from the Laser 128 manual: there's no mention
of the hardware-level interface. They say that it's IIc-compatible,
and go into detail about the firmware. So we know it's at least
firmware-compatible... which doesn't actually help that much. And a
little Googling didn't turn up anything more useful than the user's
manual.
So, Ralph, there's nothing left to do but to test it. Build or get
yourself a cable with the pinout described here:
http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/connectionsserial.html#DIN5
and give it a try. One of two things are likely to work: either it's
like an SSC down to the hardware, and you can set the ADT or ADTPro
client to slot 2 SSC. Or, if that fails, try the Laser 128 setting -
that talks to the firmware instead of hardware, but is limited to
19.2kbps. I've only had one other person ask about a Franklin Ace
500, and that was back in 2007 - I never heard back how it went.
