PCT & MSDOS 6.xx
I have been having a problem with my PC Transporter and am trying to figure out
what is the cause/fix. I have DOS 6.0 and the 6.22 STEPUP. I can install DOS
6.0 and when I upgrade to 6.22 I start to get HD errors. At first, I thought I
had a bad spot on my HD but when I fill up my HD with PRODOS stuff it checks
out ok. I am also wondering if it is because I set the drives as C: and then
use the continuation disk too. I am basically setting up a 32 Meg HD using 2 -
16384K files.
After all is upgraded, I run Scandisk and it checks out fine. After adding
things to the drive or moving things around and re-run SD it says there are
errors. It fixes them then later when I run again or make changes to the drive
it comes up with more errors. Is this a problem with PCT, DOS 6.xx, the use of
the continuation setup for drives, etc?
When I use GSOS or Mr.Fixit, the drive is perfect (using just Apple files).
When the drive goes haywire and the MSDOS vol is on it, Mr. Fixit says there is
a block in use. I have done this about 5 different times and all end up with
the same result. I haven't tried just making a C: & D: (15MB each). Has
anyone else been running DOS 6.xx (MSDOS, I mean)? Used the continuation
method for a HD? I cannot figure this out. Using the Drives as PCT volumes is
the only time I get errors.
