Help needed for RamFast and NEC 3x CDROM

Greetings all. I've got a small problem.

I have recently got ahold of an NEC 3X external cd-rom drive. Model 500 I
believe. I also, as a consequence, purchased the RamFAST 3.01ez upgrade.
I have the drive running using internal termination and as a SCSI-1 device,
and I have installed the driver and rom program from the new chip. The
problem is, the cd-rom drive will now recognize a disk insert of a High-Sierra
format CD-ROM, and will accept it, but the disk will not show up on the finder
desktop. I tried installing the DRIVE:CD-ROM from the System 6 distribution,
but this also did not help. As far as I know, the drive and card should work
without a hitch. I have a ROM 03 box with 6 MB Ram, and I boot of a 105MB
Quantum for trivia. I'm also running a 9Mhz Zip Card. DMA enabled on
the RamFast. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get the system
to recognize the CD-ROM I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
