Most P8 BYE replacements don't have a quit function, since they don't
expect to be run by the Finder. If you do, other programs you run with
it will quit back to the BYE replacement, not the Finder, and you can't
get back to the Finder without restarting the system.
The practical purpose of doing that is that, if you plan to use a lot of
8-bit applications, but will want to go back to the Finder eventually,
you won't reload the Finder each time you quit a ProDOS 8 application
just to run another ProDOS 8 program.
Now using the EXTQUIT.SYSTEM program posted I can run it to quit back to
the Finder when I want to use some GS/OS program (THANKS!). I'm thinking
of merging it with my bye replacement so that I don't even have to worry
about finding and launching the separate program.
