If you think the RAM card issue is confusing, then don't even think about
asking what the difference between extended and expanded memory is on a PC :)

To answer the first question you didn't ask, you can NOT boot off of 
peripheral slot RAM card.  You can load GS/OS on to it, but can't boot from
it--so that would be useless.  You CAN install GS/OS programs on the RAM Card
and run them at top speed (you can run them at speeds that are RAM FAST 
without a RamFAST :).

You'll still need to boot the GS with GS/OS the way you do normally
(either floppy or hard drive--whatever you have)

You do have to leave the GS on all the time so the contents of the RAM disk
don't disappear.  If you're lucky, even rebooting won't make the contents
disappear (I haven't used any other slinky-type RAM card except for the
PCT so I don't know if this is a problem).
