Can you boot a IIGS from a Mac w/ IIe card?

I have a IIGS with no hard drive that I boot from a 3 1/2" diskette.  
I would like to be able to add it to the localtalk net that I have
set up for Macintosh's, one of which has the IIe card in it.

I would especially like to use part of one of the Mac's internal hard-disks
as storage for the IIGS just like the IIe card does.  Continuing my wish list,
 I would like to actually boot from the hard disk.  

How much of this is possible?  If I do boot from the Mac, will I be
limited to the ProDos 8 that is installed in my IIe board?

Or is all of this foolish and I should just break down and buy a card
and hard drive for the IIGS?
