I got mine about 2 days ago.  I could not get it to work right off either. 
Tonight I think I sent two FAXs but won't know until tommorrow.  I am able to
init my modem ok.  Every now and then it didn't but if I keep on (during those
rare times, it does init the modem).  I am using a LineLink 144e. I tried to
get a FAX through one of the return FAX services.  Alaska just lost its normal
LD lines and we are working on satellite now.  Even when I call voice it has a
real bad echo.  SO I am going to hold off until I can get a local incoming FAX.
The receive does crash and there is a blurb about it in the dox.  Well I am
waiting for the update.
