I have a copy of the ROM required for low-level formatting. It
contains 2K of code, so a 2716 EPROM is required (a 2732 might also
work).

I haven't checked yet, but I think the microprocessor in the ProFile
is a Motorola 68P01 (6801 with piggyback ROM). You have to remove the
existing ROM and put the formatting ROM in its place.

I'll see if I can get more details about this - I have a friend who
has done several, and should know what is needed on the Apple III.

You should only need to do a low-level format if the sectoring
information has been damaged. The same physical format is used in all
cases - just do an initialize or erase, and install the desired file
system.
