Bug report on NetEdit
The program NetEdit, uploaded today to comp.binaries.apple, has a
bug which affects the saving of a portion of a file to a separate file. The
bug only shows up when you have loaded a non-text file, such as a Teach
or SRC file. The program will not allow you to open another file after
doing this, and will not show any files when the standard file dialog is
called up. In addition, the program may hang up.
I am attempting to find the bug, which showed up too late to stop
the posting. There is a work-around, in the mean time. If you load a
non-text file, save it immediately under a different name. This file
_will_ be text file, and if you then load it, you can save portions of the
file as intended. Also, if the program does hang up on you, you can
usually back out gracefully by typing control-Y and then Return. You
should be returned to the Finder or other program launcher.
Sorry for the inconvenience to anyone who has downloaded NetEdit.
I will re-post when the bug is squashed
