Its not all that hard, all he needs is a communications program such as 
ProTERM. Whant he needs to do next is to have the software dial out to the
place where he has an account if they provide a dial in phone. He will need
 to set his emulation to vt-100 and that shuold do the trick. Nothing fancy
hope this helps ya. If he does not want to purcahse ProTERM, he can
get the public domain software such as agate69 for the IIe.
