I have seen one, but only only used it very briefly. A friend has two
of them, only one of which is operational.

It consists of a keyboard, two cards (which interface together and to
the keyboard), a couple of manuals, and several pieces of software. I
can't recall how you got sound out of it - probably via a standard
audio output which you could hook into the Line In connection on a
stereo.

It is at least a year since I saw it, and I don't remember much more
about it. There were several independently written pieces of
software, one for playing existing musical tracks, and one for
composing. The instruments were stored as files on disk, and I don't
recall seeing any software for creating your own.

The software all ran under DOS 3.3 (in fact, it was originally DOS
3.2.1 and the original owner had used MUFFIN to transfer the files to
DOS 3.3). I believe the one I saw was bought in about 1979 or 1980.
