Help needed for new GS internauter :)

I was wondering and any help would be great... I got an address from some 
of you guys other there for telnetting to and downloading some GS 
software.. Uhm.. oh yeah, grind.isca.uiowa.edu was it.. anyway, I 
telnetted there and downloaded just a couple of programs using Zmodem 
with AnsiTERM, and was wondering why I'm not able to unpack any of 
these.  What exactly do I have to do?  I really dont know much about the 
binary file stuff.. but I'm not used to any of that binary type 
stuff anyway.. I've always downloaded just using zmodem and then 
unshrinking it.. but I'm ready to learn! :)
