Hypertape not working on IIgs

I have tried to get this tape drive to work with my original Rev C SCSI
card, and have had no luck for two weeks. I have two hard drives on the
SCSI card and I've come across several strange situations:

1) When I switch the GS on, it does nothing after displaying the "Apple
   IIgs" screen... it just hangs.

2) Although I always have my startup slot set to 7 for the SCSI card,
the hard drive does not boot. Instead, either of my 3.5 or 5.25
   drive will attempt to boot.

3) System 6.0 will boot -- i.e. the thermometer bar will fill completely
   then the system will hang.

4) System 6.0 will boot (off the hard drive) as if nothing were wrong.

I can open and close folders, but when I try to launch any
application, the system hangs. In this instance, while GS/OS is
booting, each of my floppy drives will be recognized, then the
tape drive will be recognized at which time it will take 5 minutes
to spin the tape, then booting will resume.

Situation #4 happened today. I was glad to finally get into the finder,
but any application would bring the system to a halt -- as the hard
drive was beginning to find the program.

In addition, can anyone tell me where to get GSTape?

Oh, some obvious things to mention: there was a SCSI terminator on the
tape drive when I tried this; I did allow the hard drives enough time
to spin up before switching on the GS; The SCSI cables are all only 3
feet long; I have about 2300k of RAM; I have never had any problems
with my ROM 3 system, but have learned that the Rev C SCSI is very
particular. In addition to the SCSI terminator being on the tape
drive, I did remove the terminators from the hard drive.
The tape drive has a simple SCSI ID selector (push-button), but the two
hard drives have the standard 8 or 10 pin jumper posts (Seagate drives).
I have no idea about how to identify what SCSI ID the device has by
looking at the jumpers.... can anyone help me with that? The SCSI card
is assigned the highest priority.

You won't believe how grateful I'd be for any useful assistance here.

Thanks, Myles
