Many Apple IIgs ROM 00/01 motherboards came with the connectors
pre soldered-in, rather than the empty solder pads. That is, a connector
for the //e powersupply, keyboard and numeric keypad option. My guess is
when Apple discontinued the IIe->IIGS upgrade, they stuck the left over
upgrade motherboards in offical GS CPU cases. I've gone through a number
of ROM 01 motherboards, some had the connectors while others did not.
Note that the ROM 3 motherboard has neither connectors _or_ empty
solder pad locations. Which is why you could never install a ROM 3 inside an
Apple //e case...
