Matt Portune:
I was trying to point out to nay-sayers that a video card for the GS is
perfectly possible; at this point, I haven't heard from the nay-sayers, but I
distinctly remember someone saying (not necessarilly on InterNet) that a video
card for the GS would be impossible or too much of a hardeware nightmare
(swapping chips, or some non-sense). There have also been statements such as,
"The CPU can't handle that much resolution," to which I responded, "who said the
CPU is supposed to?" Which is why I say there should be a co-processor on the
card.
But the pertinent question is: who will really manufacture such a card? I've
heard rumors for so long that I can't put much stock in any of them. BUT, in
the event such a card IS to be manufactured, what I posted last is something I
would like to have in such a card. But 24 bit video doesn't come cheap, and
combined with a lack of Apple II support by so many companies. . . I think you
can figure out the rest. . .
