: First, I should correct a misconception: the video port on the back of
: the IIc+ is _not_ an RGB port. It is a video expansion port, which
: provides all of the internal video generation signals used by the
: IIc/IIc+ which can be used to generate an alternative video output signal.
: To produce RGB output (or anything else) from this port, you need an
: external adaptor box which generates the appropriate video signals.
: I believe there is (or was) an RGB output adaptor for the IIc, which
: should also work on the IIc+.
The adapter was called the Video 7 RGB Enhancer and it actually sent out
RGB signals as evidenced by a demo disk which came with the unit.
Unfortunately, that was the only RGB material released for the non-GS line.
Everything else puts out no better than double hi-res and the RGB
adapter makes no difference in picture quality than the phono jack.
(Actually, regular composite video color images become terribly outlined
and blurry...I have a Video 7 and did lots of tests with almost every
possible signal source I could think of).
If someone had put out a picture viewer (like the SHRView of the GS)
that could read super hi-res or 3200 color pictures on a IIc or IIc+,
then a Video 7 would be great. Other than the demo disk, there was no
other after market support for RGB for non-GS Apples.
The Video 7 adapter of the future may very well be the Second Sight
card for the GS unless third party manufacturers jump on the bandwagon
and bring out corresponding software. I don't believe the Second Sight
upgrades existing GS software to the new plateau.
