Well they all ought to have pretty low serial numbers as they were among the
first ones produced. Does anyone know whether any non signature editions were
made before all signature eds were? That would make them the first X machines
built, X being the opinion of whoever you happen to be asking how many were
made. I've heard numbers from 200 to 200,000 but I think 50,000 is the closest
guess.
Second, you were supposed to get a signature edition owner certificate if you
sent in the registration card. My card is in my box of papers and I have no
such certificate, dammit.
All signature editions came with ROM 0 and the sucky VGC, so there were
problems, but they have been long since cured. 

That's about it. Cure the ROM 0/VGC problem with a free upgrade and there is 
positively no functional difference in it from your everyday ROM 01. Except
for mine, as it now houses a ROM 3 logic board.
