The majority of channels with single ops also have only one person in
there just twiddling his/her thumbs or something.  Most any other channels
with multiple people also have multiple ops.

The rule for this is that ops is a democratic system where accepted
and proven "safe" regulars get to share in channel protection power.
Protection as in keeping rude people out and nobody owns the channel.
This means that people have actually found the channel agreeable enough
to stay in.  Nobody power trips because everybody keeps everybody in line.

So, do what you want in your own channel but you sure don't make it sound
like it's an inviting place. (i.e. You're the only person on usually,
having to carefully make sure something improper isn't said, being nice
and courteous to you always for the fear of being kicked, etc).

IRC is much like a bar and the only rule to IRC is everybody is welcome
unless they purposely cause trouble.
