Well, I don't have the Apple RGB monitor with my IIgs. I have a
Magnavox 8CM515 (IDENTICAL to the old Amiga 1084!). The monitor
screen image 'pops' off about 2 times an hour. Many times, after
a brief 1-2 seconds the monitor 'pops' lightly again and the
image re-appears. More and more though it lately has been necessary
to tap the side of the monitor to get the image to re-appear. In
short, the problem seems to be getting worse. I found an archived
description of how to re-solder the connections to the fly-back
transformer on the genuine Apple IIgs RGB monitor. I opened my
Magnavox RGB and re-soldered "some" connections but I am not too
sure that I re-soldered the necessary ones. I am not even sure
if this is my problem.
I know that if I let it go I may make a possibly inexpensive
do-it-yourself repair transform into an unrepairable/expensive
situation.
So, if anyone with monitor/TV repair experience can give me advice
or even tell me what they think may be the problem I would
certainly appreciate it!
Thanks,
Paul Schultz
