Yes, video might be a trick, but ...!  The PPC GS emulator could be faster
than any GS will ever be.  On a emulator (Mac or PPC), there would be no
need I can think of to be limited to 1 Mhz or 3.6 Mhz bus speeds.  Screen
updates could be done at maximum speed and so an emulator should be able
to run rings around and GS, no matter how Zipped it is.  Screen I/O will
always be a bottleneck on a GS, but non at all (within reason) on a
GS emulator.  

And on a related matter, a GS emulator when emulating a Disk II or Apple
5.25 drive, is bus speed important? That is, does one have to read a
disk image file at 1MHz, or can it be done at max speed?  Assuming a
disk image file can be made of a copy-protected 5.25 disk  (EA Marble
Madness, for example), should one process it at 1MHz or at max speed?

No, I am NOT writing a emulator, just dreaming about what one would
have to be like.
