Hmm... so I assume you're saying that IQ comes closest in displaying GIFs as
they appear on a real 8-bit display? This seems to explain why the program
would be slower and use virtual memory (vm eh? could a RAM Doubler GS be far
behind?) :)

Howver, I must insist that in terms of real application of converted pics, I
think Prism still tops em. Why? That's cuz I can actually make good use of
my converted pics in a variety of ways, instead of just for viewing.
Frankly, if I really wanted to just view a photo in it's best quality, I'll
do so on a color Mac. No matter how good Prism or IQ is, it would never
compare with even a Mac 8-bit display. Case in point: I once showed this
fella my 'cool' 3200 conversions. He said, "hmm... pretty nice, but my
friend's LC has better graphics." He had a good point. What else could I
have done but show him the door? (of course, this was pre-Second Sight)

The point is, and this is only a personal opinion, I need to be able to use
my conversions (in HS stacks, for example). Since HS can use 256 pics and
even display 3200 pics (using DreamWorld's NBA), I am able to make full use
of Prism's advanced features. And as I've said in the past, converting TIFFs
blows away anything converted from plain ol GIFs.

I agree completely.

Well, thank you! I'm glad you thought it decent.

But to be honest, I don't really like the greyscale scans (done with
Quickie) cuz they are too small. In the future, I hope to rescan them on a
flatbed scanner and have the photos fill up the entire screen. Most photos
in my stack will also be connected to the DW NBA to pull up 3200 versions of
them. This outta 'spice up' my stack a little.

Hey, don't worry about it. The encouraging email I got from y'all was great
enough (even if it was only from a handful of people...).

I would just like to conclude by apologizing to those few people who showed
interest in my work, but whom I ended up flaming, when they told me I'd have
better success doin' a stack on NASCAR. Sorry, but it's either F1 or Barney
:)
