Re: Any interest in hypercard GS?

Yes, I am interested in HC2GS.

Any version Hypercard reference will do in general, although a couple of
features may not be available (mostly those which deal with multiple windows).

Re: writing a database - no reason why not. I wrote a quick Conference
registration database using HC Mac v1.2
(sorry, bad terminal... that's HC Mac v1.something). I never got to test it
with a large information base, since an alternate program was eventually used,
but it can be done. The biggest pain is having to maintain a blank card to
copy every time you want to add a new record, and placing buttons to allow you
to correctly navigate through the beasty. Search routines are not hard, but
printing is a bitch, since HC loves to print graphics so much.

If you really want to learn, just put yourself in authoring mode, look through
the example stacks, and start building - the on-line help is about as complete
as help ever gets, and is always available. The biggest difficulty in starting
to learn is figuring out the various levels - stack, background, and card, and
how they work. Once you've got them down straight, you can create until you're
blue in the face.

Have fun!
