Well folks, i've narrowed down the problem with my RF and my ZIP.
For those who don't know what i'm talking about, the situation is
pretty intruiging: My RF won't function if I have the RF's DMA
turned on. Symptoms are easily noticeable: crashing (into the mon
itor), lock-ups, and other nasty things.
Basically, I tested out all of my cards on another IIGS to see
if the same thing happened; and they did. So, I know it's not my
GS's motherboard. :-)
I ended up trying something interesting: I turned the speed setting
on Slot 7 (where my RF is) on the ZIP to "Normal" (it's on "Fast"
usually), turned DMA on, and voila: It worked, but it's about as
slow as an Apple Hi-Speed, so I went back to turning DMA off and
the setting back to "Fast."
I tried other slots; Slot 6 and even Slot 4. Same thing happens
with the settings.
Anyone out there know what might be causing this? I'm trying to
figure out if it's the RF or the ZIP, because i'd like to replace
item which doesn't agree with the other.

Second, I had an interesting encounter with my RF (or maybe it's
the ZIP; who knows what did what) when I was doing backups the
other night.
I proceeded to copy about 30 files from my /Exodus/MODs directory
to my new /MODs partition. The files copied, but when I played
them, they sounded terrible. I took a look at the samples inside
the MODs and the patterns; everything was jumbled. Samples had
blank spots or "static-like" spots in them, and the patterns had
garbage data where the notes/inst/effect should be.
Anyone else have such an encounter? I'm just wondering because my
hardware is really beginning to piss me off. :-)
