IIc+ Expansion

I once talked to a guy that worked for Chinook that had a IIc+ with
internal HD in the floppy bay, internal 2400 baud modem, and LCD
screen.  Has anyone out there made internal expansions like this?
I know there's a lot of room under the IIc+ keyboard, as well as 
around the 3.5" drive mechanism.  I think at one time Chinook was
going to (or did?) market internal HD's for //c's as well as an
internal modem.  The HD would connect to the smartport connector,
but I can see that a connecting a modem into the serial port could
be tricky...
