Re: ADT for GS serial ports?
Hi,
Thanks for this info. I've downloaded the latest ADT. Since both of us
are blind, and the ADT binaries don't talk under the Textalker software we
use to drive our Echo speech synthesizers, can someone answer these
questions. This assumes a fresh from monitor dump, out-of-the-box, ADT.
1. This is being run on a GS. What is the default configuration? Slot 2, I
assume? What baud rate?
2. Do you still hit r to receive, or s to send, then follow that with a
filename and hit Enter?
One reason I ask this is, I see the Applesoft configuration program has been
eliminated, and as I've said earlier, the binaries don't talk. So I need to
know what type of configuration we're going to be dealing with out of the
box.
Thanks again.

Yes, there is. ADT has been updated to use the native GS modem port.
If you run ADT on the GS, it will automatically select that as the
default communications device.

Yes, it is.

The ADTPro server has an easier bootstrapping solution, but it still
takes a lot of steps. The following is a URL to the bootstrapping
instructions to get ADT running via the ADTPro server, which can serve
both ADT and ADTPro clients:
http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/bootstrap.html#Bootstrapping_DOS
But it might be simpler just to send a physical floppy via snail mail.
If there's a way I can make ADTPro (which is written in Java)
accessible, I'd be interested in giving it a try.
