   The original connector was 16 pins, all of them used. The game port
is only 9 pins, and they aren't multiplexed, so some signals are no
longer supported. Joysticks can be plugged into that port, with the
following connections:

   1 2 3 4 5
    6 7 8 9     (when looking at the connector directly)

   The pins are:
1) PB0  Button 0 in
2) +5V  5 volt output
3) GND  Ground
4) PDL2 Paddle 2 input
5) PDL0 Paddle 0 in
6) PB2  Button 2 in
7) PB1  Button 1 in
8) PDL1 Paddle 1 in
9) PDL3 Paddle 3 in

   Where Paddles 0/1 are the x & y of the primary joystick, 2/3 of
the secondary (were there ever many games or joysticks which actually
supported such a thing?) joystick. Button 0 corresponds to the open
apple key, 1 the closed apple, and button 2 was for the secondary
joystick.

   So to answer your question, since there are no annucators on the
//c input (this connector is also on the //e and IIGS), you couldn't
use it as an output device. It could receive input on the 3 button
inputs, as long as the user didn't touch the oa/ca keys, or the
joystick inputs if you didn't mind paying a big speed penalty.
