Booting problem (Prodos)
I've been having problems making a bootable Prodos 5.25 disk, using a
IIGS with Finder (6.0.1). Even after erasing, then initializing the
disk, and copying the files (Zlink, for someone who has a IIe), Zlink
will run from the floppy, but when booting, the thing just grinds three
times. I verified the media, used Vaccine II to check for viruses, tried
with and without Basic.system, and even used earlier versions of Prodos.
I finally dug up a Prodos 1.1.1 disk, deleted all but the Prodos, then
copied the Zlink files to it, and it boots!
So...is it Zlink (which runs fine with my resident Prodos dated 1993 from
a harddrive), or the recent Prodos, or some other thing? Does prodos
look for a file named "startup" specifically? What is the script for
writing such a file?
