Apple II BBS's
I run a similar type of board that I'm _slowly_ letting grow. My problem is
that I'm running it off of my phone at work, so I don't want to let it get
too big until I get it on a dedicated line at home. My BBS (a little ProLine
board) operates from 6pm to 8am weekdays, and all day weekends (whenever I'm
not at work). The problem with Apple II boards is reaching Apple II users,
and on most other boards you're talking to PC and some Macintosh users. Like
your's, mine is targetted squarely at Apple II folks. My plan is to not to
ANY advertising through other BBS's other than getting on their BBS lists,
but instead get the word out through unusual channels including the local
Apple user group and classified ads in the local papers. I'm also plan to
offer some services that are fairly unique and related to amateur astronomy,
specifically, weekly astronomy news updates and sky reports, monthly updates
on artificial satellite tracking, and updates as needed for the space
shuttle. I also want to eventually hook into the ProLine network, and from
there into comp.sys.apple2. In any event, I plan on it remaining a small
board that's easy to run and maintain. I'd bet if you asked on csa2 you'd
find other FV SysOps that could make some helpful suggestions.
Good luck!
