Start of FAQ on CD ROM players for Apple IIGS

G'day All Netters,
I've recently become interested in a
CDROM player for
my IIGS but have been able to find very little info on what make/sort
/brands/type pf CDROM's will work with either/both of the
RAMFast or Apple HS SCSI card. (I've a HS SCSI card myself).

What I'd like to do is invite IIGS CDROM users/owners on the Net
to email me details of what they're using. I'll summarize the info
and try to get it included in the FAQ for Apple II's, and/or post
the replies in a FAQ.CDROM.A2's myself.

What info I'd ask people to post is -

(1) What SCSI card they're using (for the RAMFast, what ROM version)

(2) What brand/type CDROM player they're using (eg Apple CDROM-150, etc)
Please include the brand and model type (eg NEC CDR-25)

(3) The speed of their CDROM (eg single/double/etc)

(4) Whether their CDROM player can play audio CD's (either through the IIGS's
speaker or via speakers connected to the earphone socket on the CDROM.

(5) If the CDROM requires special drivers to get it to work either with
program CD's and/or to get audio CD's to play.

(6) Any other (brief) comments relevant that I've forgotten or not asked.

Hopefully with everyone's help, we can get another useful FAQ up and
available to us Apple II netters. I'll try and keep comp.sys.apple2
netters posted as to how it going (just in case I get flooded, which I
hope).

Send email to davoesq@werple.apana.org.au

Thanks in advanced peoples.

Regards,
