While it is true that the Apple HS SCSI is no longer supported by
Apple, it is not true that it is no longer supported by the rest of
the A2 world. At least one company, Tulin, has written a driver to
use NEC CD-ROM drives with the Apple HS. OK, not exactly a cavalcade
but it is something.

The main reason most of use do not switch over is money: RAMFasts,
even used ones, cost money. Also, it is not readily apparent that
the RAMFast is needed, at least not yet. I have a hard drive, a
SyQuest removable, a Tulin floptical, and an Apple CD-150 all
attached to my Apple HS with no problems what so ever. Sure the
Apple HS is not as fast as the RAMFast nor as flexible (P8 access),
but geesh.

One thing that would definitely make me switch is hardware/software
support for a full page scanner (graphics and OCR). Until then, or
some other hardware break through I am more than happy to keep my
Apple HS.
