No, but it would mean that I have to continue using the IIgs as a
development platform. If I went to a more powerful computer, it seems
rather odd to have to use a cross-compiler running on a slow platform
to write programs for a fast one!

Because you can't! I was talking about IIgs programmers who are
already writing IIgs programs in native IIgs languages.
If Applesoft programs want to start programming the IIgs to its full
capabilities, Pegasus Pascal may be a very good product for them.
