Hard Drive Problem
Ive got a strange (maybe) problem witha relatively new hard drive. To begin,
my system started crashing whenever I tried to access my second 3.5" drive
from the Finder. Just putting a disk in both drives would get me a "bink!"
and system locksville. I tried a warm boot and I got series of errors
starting with an error reporting I didn't have the Apple3.5 driver installed,
then a DOS 3.3 FST error, then a "This disk may be damaged please move the
data to another disk" error. To make a LONG story short, I re-zeroed the
volume, reformatted it (got a weird error for a while that the volume was
full), and eventually got System 6.01 re-installed. However, when I try to
boot it I get the 'ol "This volume may be damaged..." error. I've verified it
using Copy II+, the Finder, and the software that came with my Apple High
Speed SCSI card and I never get any errors or bad blocks. If I boot from the
floppies I can access the volume with no apparent problems. Lastly, I tried
the drive on another GS (to see if it were a card/cable problem) and got the
same "This volume may be damaged..." error.
Any thoughts?
Thanks o'plenty!
