No.  What is it called?

I still find this hard to believe.  I can see that the potential is
there - the II+ does have a 14 MHz clock, for example.  It already
uses double the horizontal clock speed when drawing low resolution
grahpics.

Can anyone give me the details of the modification?  

Whatever it is may produce double resolution graphics, but it won't be
software compatible with the IIe/IIc/IIgs double resolution modes.
