That's a Videx Ultraterm, from your description of it.  I have one of
these myself.  If I can remember <g>, I'll pull out the manual and try
to summarize the jumper settings, etc.  Should you not hear from me,
give a yell in E-Mail!

That sounds like the old "shift-key" mod.  The native (motherboard)
video on the ][+ did not have lower-case capability.  Since the
Ultraterm (and a lot of other 3rd-Party cards) did, this jumper was
needed to allow their firmware to detect Shift-Down.  It just ties the
keyboard shift key to one of the game port inputs, as I recall.
