NEC CD Rom Problem

I have a friend who has aquired a NEC CDR 36 CD Rom. He was told that
it came from an "Apple." I asked if he meant Mac and he said, "All I
was told was that it was an Apple."

The problem is, he can't access it on his MS DOS machines and he
wonders if there is a jumper, etc., that can be changed to make it work
on his machine.

Personally, I'd like an iron clad reason why it can't work on his MS
DOS machine and so he should just give it to me ;-)
