You're already half way there. System 6.0.1 includes a "RAM5" driver
which can create and use the RAM5 disk even if you have slot 5 set to
"Your Card". This driver is considerably faster than the firmware.
The catch: it can only be used in GS/OS, not ProDOS-8.
The other catch: if you're booting from a floppy, you might not have
enough space to install the driver on your System Disk (a high density
3.5" disk should be OK unless you have several extensions installed).
I use the same technique as Chris - my SuperDrive controller card is
in slot 6, not slot 5, so I don't lose the RAM disk. (I also have an
Apple 3.5 Drive connected to the IIgs Smartport, for the few programs
that don't work with the SuperDrive card, such as ZZCopy.)
