I can't believe this!! I noticed the RGB port on back of the Apple ///
is the same 15 pin D-Style that the Apple IIgs has in back. Seeing as I have
a couple of spare AppleColor RGB monitors hanging around, I figured why not
take a chance and see what happens if I plug it into the Apple ///. I had tried
this once before on an Apple //c, but of course nothing happened (yes, I should
have known better, but that was years ago). It seemed even _less_ likely
anything would happen on a 4 year older Apple computer, but figuring what the
hell, I tried it and power up the Apple /// with an AppleColor RGB from a GS.
And you know what...?

IT WORKS! Not just somewhat, but 100% as if the monitor were made
especially for the Apple /// computer! Text looks sharp and great and even
displays it in FULL-COLOR! Funny thing is, the Apple /// makes more use of
it's colored ASCII text than the Apple IIgs (up to 16 background and
foreground colors using text at once, much like IBM's color ANSI text).
I'm still quite surprised I was able to do this without any conflicts...!

Now I want Apple /// software more than ever! The only color I got to see
was the diagnostic routines I mentioned in my last post. This ancient computer
could make a damn nice terminal for GNO! Especially if can not only produce
something simular to IBM ANSI, but has 512k of RAM and digital sound cabilities
as I read in some tech-notes. Even has a built-in RS-232c port in back... :)
Oh, I found out Pressing both Apple keys with reset bring you to a sort of
Apple III Monitor prompt.

..Again, any help in finding software for an Apple III would be much
appreciated.
